HAUTE ROUTE TRAVEL INFORMATION
HOW TO GET TO ZERMATT
Since the actual trip begins in Zermatt you must arrange
transportation to get to Zermatt independently. The best way
to get to Zermatt from North America is to fly to Geneva via
Frankfurt or London. The Swiss are well known for their extensive
train network and the network can get you from Geneva International
Airport to Zermatt in just a few hours.
We strongly recommend arriving in Zermatt 3 days early to
recover from jet lag and acclimatize to the elevations of
the Alps. Here, you can ski the Gornergrat and the Little
Matterhorn lift areas while taking in the stupendous views
of the West Alps. You can even ski into Italy for the afternoon!
HOW TO GET FROM CHAMONIX, FRANCE BACK TO GENEVA
Taxi is the best mode of transport especially if you can
combine with other guests of the Haute Route trip. It's about
an hour by taxi. Train and bus service is also available.
PASSPORT
Check well in advance of your Haute Route trip if your passport
will be still valid.
ALPINE CLUB MEMBER
Bring your valid membership card with you if you are a member
of the AAC or CAC. This will result in some discounts.
INSURANCE
Please ensure that you have full travel insurance, as well
as medical insurance to fully cover you in Switzerland, Italy,
and France.
Haute Alpine Adventures will insure all guests for on-mountain
evacuation flights and mountain rescue flights in Switzerland
only. We strongly recommend you purchase your own insurance
for Italy and France to cover evacuation flights and mountain
rescue.
In addition, we recommend you purchase trip cancellation
insurance which will cover your paid money for the Haute Route
trip.
Please call or e-mail us if you have any further questions
on this.
