AVALANCHE SKILLS TRAINING
Venturing into the mountain backcountry in winter without basic avalanche knowledge can carry significant risk. This popular course introduces you to many concepts necessary for travel in avalanche terrain.
2 evening sessions and 1 long field day is spent learning about everything from avalanche science to terrain analysis and routefinding. Other topics include human factors/decision making, and, avalanche rescue skills. This course is recognized by the Canadian Avalanche Association as a prerequisite for the professional Level 1 avalanche course. We take advantage of the lifts of Whistler - Blackcomb to get us to the avalanche terrain quickly. All avalanche safety equipment is included. Snowboards, Tele skiers and A/T are welcome.
